Frequently Asked Questions

Tyre-only costs: Generally, an individual tyre for a standard car can cost anywhere from around $75-100 to around $200. It depends on the make and model. Contact us for a quote.

The answer is ideally, yes. Replacing just the one tyre without changing the tyre on the opposite side of the axle at the same time may cause an imbalance to the vehicle – potentially leading to wheel misalignment and excessive tyre wear.

A general recommendation is that your tyres are changed every 20,000 miles or every 10 years. However, they may need to be changed sooner than this if you notice any of the following: The tread is worn down. Cracks in the rubber.
If two of your tyres wear out faster, it may only be necessary to replace those two instead of replacing all four. If you do, it’s important to have the two new tyres installed on the back and the partially worn tyres moved to the front – even on front-wheel-drive vehicles.

Check the tread indicators.
Small bars of rubber running across the grooves in between the tread – called tread wear indicators – tell you when the tyre is worn out. If the tread is worn down to these bars on any part of the tyre, it’s worn out, unroadworthy, and needs to be replaced.

Two common causes of early tire wear out and irregular tire wear are improper inflation pressure and out-of-spec alignment conditions.
Since most cars today are FWD and the front tires are responsible for acceleration, steering and most braking, they normally wear faster than the rears.
It is perfectly legal to use different brand tyres on your car, however, this doesn’t always mean you should. Slight differences in the tyre could end up causing huge differences in performance, which can ultimately end up damaging both your car and your wallet as a result!
Generally, we advise that tyres should last around 40,000km, but that’s not a guarantee. So much of a tyre’s lifespan depends upon factors that are either within the control of the driver or within no one’s control at all. That’s why tyre manufacturers never make guarantees around longevity.
When your wheels are out of alignment, your tyre treads will wear out unevenly. This makes one part of the tyre weaker and more likely to get damaged. By getting your tyres aligned regularly, you can help make sure your treads wear evenly and last longer.
It’s likely your old tires had very little tread depth by the time you replaced them. Tires with very little tread tend to respond quicker, because there’s less tread that needs to flex during maneuvering. So, new ones might feel slightly less responsive before they’re fully broken in.
